Reading

Wow, what an exciting time it is at Nursery Hill Primary School with reading! We have had a rush push on reading, to ensure all children have access to high quality texts. Children take books home to read with their family, also children can take a book corner book and books from the Library.

While the children learn to read at school, reading together with your child at home has many benefits. It not only helps to develop their literacy skills and their love of reading, but it also helps to build a strong relationship with your child.

Try to find a quiet place away from life's distractions, even if it's for 10 minutes and enjoy reading together. Click on the images to find out more about our different reading schemes.

Reading is an essential skill, but it can feel daunting for some children and adults. By making Reading part of everyday life, you can help your child to feel confident when working with words.

Here is a reading comprehension exercise, which you can use with your child.
