Black History Month

During October, for Black History Month, we looked at famous Black Britons who have made a difference. 

Have a look at the fantastic work we have produced.

Year 3 did some art work linked to the artist Frank Bowling. His paintings relate to Abstract expressionism, Color Field painting and Lyrical Abstraction.

Mary Prince

Nel has written about Mary Prince and how her life started as a slave and how she wrote the first anti-slavery petition by a black woman to the British Parliament.

Something Inside So Strong

Sebastian listened to the song (Something Inside) So Strong written and recorded by Labi Siffre and discussed the meaning behind it.

Poppy wrote a diary entry as Olaudah Equiano who was a slave, he brought his way out of slavery and became an Abolitionist, wanting to abolish the laws about slavery.

Bristol Bus Boycott (5)

Year 4/5 looked at the Bristol Bus Boycott and what happened. They did a reading comprehension to demonstrate their understanding of the event.
